We have heard a great news from BGR that RIM has been seriously considering a new feature that will allow BlackBerry devices to run Android Apps. It’s said that Research In Motion will choose the Dalvik virtual machine as their Java environment for QNX. And Dalvik is just the same Virtual Machine that the Android OS uses. In this case, it would allow RIM’s QNX-based devices to run any App built for the Android devices.
If RIM does make such a great move, and those QNX-based devices can run Android Apps, it would be awesome! What do you think about the BlackBerry smartphones running Android Apps?

Mike Kirkup (@blackberrydev) just announced through twitter that the updated version of BlackBerry Theme Builder will launch by the end of January. The new update will fully support all BlackBerry 6.0 devices. This is a great news since there are only several days left in January now. We believe there must be a bunch of theme developers keeping an eye on the new version. Let’s wait for its coming!
Microsoft just released an update to Bing with full support for BlackBerry smartphones running OS 6.0. And some new features have been added into the upgraded version:
- Homepage Hotspots:
If you have a little time to spend and want to explore the day’s image, point around it until you find a hotspot. Hidden in the image, hotspots are intended intrigue and inform you. If you look, you’ll find four of them every day. Each gives you a chance to find out more about the subject of the image.
- Flight Status Instant Answer:
Simply enter your flight number and Bing for mobile will provide you with the status at a glance.
- Bing Image Search:
Search for the perfect image on the go. Bing Image Search provides you with gorgeously rendered images formatted for easy viewing on your phone.
- “What’s Nearby”:
Bing for Mobile has a smart experience for finding local listings like restaurants and attractions using your location to serve up “what’s nearby.”
With this free App, you can make decisions and get the answers you need anywhere as long as you have your BlackBerry on hand. However, Bing is only available for 8520, 8530, 9000, 9330, 9530, 9550, 9630, 9650 & 9800 currently.
Google Maps App for BlackBerry just has been upgraded to version 4.5.2. Personally, I think Google Maps is one of the most useful applications for BlackBerry users. With its assistance, it is very easy for us to find the destination, and we never be afraid of being lost! Since this App has been updated with no changelog available, so we guess this new version just fixes some small bugs found from the previous version.
For more information or to download the update version, head over to “m.google.com/maps”.
