RIM’s Co-CEO Jim Balsillie Confirms BlackBerry 6.1 Now Called As BlackBerry 7

blackberry 7 RIM’s Co-CEO Jim Balsillie confirmed during the Q&A Investors Call that BlackBerry 6.1 is now called as BlackBerry 7, since it’s such a big update from 6.

…we’re now calling BlacKBerry 6.1 “BlackBerry 7″, it’s such an big update from 6. There’s liquid graphics, a hugely enhanced browser and web browsing experience, there’s a smooth and fluid touchscreen interface, graphics acceleration for gaming and faster hardware, higher memory and improved battery life.

New BlackBerry Touch (Monaco/Monza) Hands-on Photos Leaked!

BlackBerry-Touch  BlackBerry-Touch00  BlackBerry-Touch01 Thanks for the effort of BGR Team, now we get some hands-on photos of the upcoming BlackBerry full touch-screen device, with codenames Monaco and Monza. According to BGR, both names are codenames that signify different Carriers the phone will land on, Verizon Wireless will get the Monaco while the BlackBerry Monza is the global GSM version. This new device most likely will not be a member of the Storm family, it may launch as the BlackBerry Touch, and it will run BlackBerry OS 6.1. It seems that users have to sign up with a BlackBerry ID to login to the system.

Advised by BGR, RIM is also planning to announce the BlackBerry Bold Touch, BlackBerry Curve Touch, BlackBerry Torch 2 and BlackBerry Touch (Monaco / Monza) at BlackBerry World Conference in May.

BlackBerry Desktop Manager Version 6.1 Coming Soon?

Wow, BGR guys are always keeping an eye on RIM, they just disclosed some information on BlackBerry Desktop Software. From the screenshots shown above, it seems that BlackBerry Desktop Manager 6.1 is on the way! Maybe RIM is going to launch a Desktop Manager 6.1 the time the new BlackBerry devices with OS 6.1 arrive. Currently, the one noticeable feature is the ability to forget a previously backed up or synced device. No exact word on the release date, but it probably won’t be longer before we see a leaked version popped up.
