November 10th, 2011

Lately we have been hearing many rumors about BBX platform and what it will be bringing to the table.  At first we thought that it would not support BIS/BES. Which, I couldn’t think of a BlackBerry device that doesn’t support BES/BIS!

In an interview with PCMag RIM’s vice president of Developer Relations and Ecosystem Development Alec Saunders stated that the new BBX BlackBerry device will in fact have BES support. He also said that the first BBX device, codenamed the Colt, will have the same Screen Resolution as the BlackBerry PlayBook which is 16:9 aspect ratio with a 1024×600-pixel resolution. The first device will be a full touchscreen device.

Saunders also stated that RIM is going to focus a lot on gaming on the next BlackBerry Platform!! Click the link below to read Alec Saunders full interview! I can’t wait for BBX!

BlackBerry PlayBook Used to Record Soundgarden Concert in Vancouver

August 1st, 2011

Today afternoon, as a my habit, i tried to learn something from some BlackBerry websites. Oops, it is a good luck. I listened the Soundgarden Concert. Although i did not go to the site, but it seems that i have experienced for myself.

Here is another awesome example of the BlackBerry PlayBook’s video recording capabilities. CrackBerry member guyhockey took his PlayBook with him to a recent Soundgarden concert, and used it to record the first two songs of the concert! Not only does the video look great even under challenging lighting conditions, but the audio is pretty awesome as well. Don’t be afraid to watch this one in 1080p and full screen, it looks terrific. Guyhockey previously posted a video taken with his PlayBook on a rollercoaster, which is also pretty cool.

What the Android App Player Means for BlackBerry

July 28th, 2011

PlayBook-multiple-platforms

As we all know, Android App Player has leaked for a couple of days and BlackBerry PlayBook can support multi-systems… I am sure, if you have a Blackberry PlayBook and know its features, you will try to install Android App Player on Blackberry PlayBook.

Now i would like to share my experience with you. Yesterday, i installed the leaked Android App Player on to my BlackBerry PlayBook. It was an arduous process that involved several hours of researching, finding bad or poorly worded instructions, and downloading hundreds of megabytes worth of SDK’s (note the plural) and a JRE and a JDK and this and that. That’s a lot of work to install a resource-hogging, semi-functional application. Nevertheless I am amazed.

The Android App Player doesn’t just emulate or represent the Android operating system. It is the Android operating system. Android exists as a virtual machine on the PlayBook tablet. Most people don’t run virtual machines on their home computers, let alone a "mere" tablet.

As best i want to say that the BlackBerry PlayBook is the first tablet to run multiple operating systems simultaneously. Apart from that, bringing the Android OS to the PlayBook represents a fundamental shift in the app ecosystem.
