BlackBerry 9800 Slider headed for AT&T

The BlackBerry Slider is finally seen in its official final state, and is heading for AT&T. engadget has the photos of the AT&T branded Slider running OS 6 and they say it’s the final version. There is still no official word of a final name, Bold or Torch, but the Slider will soon be a reality on AT&T. engadget says,
"This particular phone is AT&T-branded, and it starts up with a carrier logo screen that proudly proclaims the 9800 a world phone — sure enough, the About screen shows support for WCDMA bands I, II, V, and VI, which means you’ll be able to use the phone for 3G service in Japan and most of Europe. "

After the BlackBerry Bold 9700 took an embarrassingly close loss to the Palm Pre Plus in the last round of Laptop’s Smartphone March Madness, today it’s the BlackBerry Tour going up against the Motorola Droid. The BlackBerry Tour already managed to knock out the Apple iPhone 3GS, which the bookies had favorited to make the finals, so the Tour has momentum going into this battle though it’s trailing a little as I put this post live. AddOnis Updated And Adds On More Love For 5.0!

Rory just let us know that AddOnis has updated and is now compatible with OS 5.0 (and includes the new Standby/Lock function, the First App to support the new combination in 5.0). The new updated version is v1.4.8. There are now also three versions of AddOnis: 4.5, 4.6/4.7, and 5.0. AddOnis is the ultimate toolbox for a BlackBerry as in the features it has onboard, and the new updated version has the other features and then some. Check it out…

Update for 4.5/4.6:

Fixed a bug that can not send email to calendar.
Fixed a bug that keylocker exception will not save.
New function: After call disconnect, you can manually send call to calendar.

New Version for OS 5.0

It includes all the fixes and functions above and also:

Fixed a bug that may cause Autostandby not to work.
Added support for both new style Standby/Lock mode and old style Standby mode (to support different OS 5 versions)
Added new method to detect whether the calling number exists in the Addressbook or not.

If you have AddOnis, please update now. The easiest way is to sign into the BlackBerry Sync Store, go to MyApps and check for upgrade and download. Or through the BlackBerry Sync Super Store app from your BlackBerry. If you don’t have AddOnis, you should give it a try, especially since they’ve recently lowered their price, but not the great value of the app.

BlackBerry Curve 8520 Now Available from Fido

We knew this was coming mostly due to rumors (and a slight OS goof), and the Curve 8520 has finally made its way to Fido. The device is just $50 with a 3/year agreement and matching BlackBerry Data plan, $350 with a 2/year contract, or $400 for just the device or prepaid service. Nothing new and exciting with this release as the Fido version is still the standard Fido-branded black, but maybe a lavender or red version will work into the lineup down the road. It looks like the device is only available by phone or in stores as well. For more information, check out fido.ca.
